Nvidia has deployed OpenAI's Codex, the agentic coding tool powered by GPT-5.5, to more than 10,000 employees across engineering, product, legal, finance, and marketing. The rollout followed an internal pilot that reportedly compressed debugging cycles from days to hours and turned multi-week experimentation into overnight progress on complex, multi-file codebases. Jensen Huang called the deployment a milestone in "the age of AI." Sam Altman said early company-wide testing "was awesome."
This is not a lab demo. It is a 10,000-person deployment of a coding agent inside one of the most technically sophisticated companies on the planet, running on a 100,000-GPU cluster with zero-data-retention and read-only access controls. The Codex rollout is part of a broader pattern: Nvidia and OpenAI's decade-long partnership, which began with the delivery of the first DGX-1 in 2016, now extends to a commitment to deploy more than 10 gigawatts of Nvidia systems for OpenAI's infrastructure. For enterprises evaluating whether coding agents are production-ready, Nvidia just answered that question with headcount.
